To commemorate the National Kidney Month in the Philippines, the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) announced its partnership with Bot MD to launch an A.I. powered Facebook Messenger and Viber-based platform for Pre-Kidney Transplant donor and patient education. The platform, called "Bot MD Care" will enable potential Kidney donors and recipients to undergo pre-transplant orientation at their own pace and time, through popular chat platforms without having to download a separate mobile app.
Using Bot MD Care, NKTI Transplant Coordinators can now automate the entire pre-transplant orientation process to instantly answer patient questions in English and Tagalog and also send quizzes to test both patient and potential donor knowledge. If patients do not complete their quizzes, the Bot will also send automated reminders to follow-up.
Patients will enroll themselves into the platform by scanning a simple QR code. The Bot then allows them to select their preferred chat platform -- Facebook Messenger or Viber to receive their orientation process which includes information about kidney transplant, kidney donation and educational quizzes.
Patients can ask the A.I. questions about Kidney Transplant and Kidney Donation in English or Tagalog. They will also receive education videos and interactive quizzes within their preferred chat platform. This ensures that donors and recipients can learn more about the Kidney Transplant and complete the orientation process at their own time. In addition, the A.I. helps to automatically score and triage quizzes to alert Kidney Transplant Coordinators for patients or donors who fail their quizzes, and sends nudges to patients who have not followed up with their Kidney Transplant Coordinators.
With Bot MD Care, NKTI can now automate and scale Pre-Kidney Transplant orientation to more patients and potential donors across the country.
Since 2021, Bot MD Care has been used to automate patient education and remote monitoring for a range of clinical conditions. In Singapore, the company has partnered with the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) to simplify the complex and onerous genetic counseling process for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer patients into bite-sized modules and education videos sent to patients via WhatsApp.
